meet our members

Gary McDonald joined Lubbock Monterey Chapter of AMBUCS, November, 1982. He was sponsored by Don Lynn. Gary's purpose in joining was to work with like-minded people to make life better for people in our community and to expand his pool of friends.

He worked for Word Publications doing graphic design. Currently, he continues to work there on a part time basis. In addition, Lubbock Monterey Chapter of AMBUCS is privileged to have Gary as a member, as he had the opportunity to work at the National AMBUCS office in High Point, NC, from 1990 to 1992. Gary brings many talents to the Lubbock Monterey Ambucs Chapter.

Gary has a unique hobby...painting religious icons. Presently, he is working on a series of 26 icons to be presented to graduating seniors in May, 2022 at Christ the King Diocesan High School. What an honor for these graduating seniors to receive. In addition to his working on icons, a favorite pastime is his listening to live music.

Gary was married to Clarisse until she passed away in 2011. Then he married Angie in 2014. Gary states he has one daughter, Alicia, and one grandson, Jake, age 14 years old. Alicia and Jake live in Lubbock. Gary and Angie have four dogs: Romeo, Loverboy, Maggie and Jubilee.

His goals are to travel to as many countries around the world, as God gives him the health to do so. Also, to continue to be a life-long learner and have fun!

We are so grateful to have Gary as a member of Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS Team, and whether you're a long-time Lubbock resident or a newcomer, if you, too, would like to learn more about our mission and see about joining our Team, just JOIN US at one of our regular Monday Lunches at the McKenzie/Merket Alumni Center on the Tech Campus. You'll be glad you did!!
