Meet Our Members: Lisa Dolezal

It was an exciting day for Lisa Dolezal, when she decided to join Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS during a Monday meeting, March 27, 2023. Her sponsor was a long-time member, Gail King. Lisa stated she joined Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS to help promote mobility for those with disabilities. Wow, that focuses on one of our mission statements: providing independence to those with disabilities.

Lisa was a paramedic for over 30 years, working on a 911 ambulance in the Sacramento, California region. She was a preceptor and instructor for EMT's and paramedics in training for over 25 years. Even though she retired from the ambulance, she still currently provides Peer Support and provides Critical Incident Stress Management for her fellow peers.

As an interesting fact about Lisa, she stated she is a self-proclaimed "wineaux" and was working her way to becoming a wine judge when COVID hit. She is still waiting for the required courses to be "in person". Regarding her favorite pastime, she is a paper crafter and loves to handmake cards. Also traveling is a passion and she is looking forward to jumping in the RV and "road tripping".

She has been married to her husband, Doug, for almost 23 years. She stated, "We FINALLY got married in April 2000." It had to be 2000, so her husband could remember how many years he's been married...LOL!! They have two fur babies. These sweet fur babies are two 20 lb. Coon cats, named Ava and Roxy.

Since they "escaped from California in 2021", Lisa stated her goal for now is to learn more about Lubbock and Texas. Currently, they are almost finished building their dream home and getting settled in is their priority so their family and friends can visit their fabulous place!
