AMTRYKE RECIPIENT: Ruben Ortega

On August 15, 2023, veteran, Ruben Ortega received his TP-3000 AMTRYKE. Ruben learned about AMTRYKES from Angie McDonald. Ruben told his PT, Chris Riggs with the Lubbock VA, about Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS' AMTRYKE PROGRAM. Without hesitation Chris referred Ruben for his AMTRYKE.

At one time, Ruben was very active being the header in rodeos. He kept his horses as long as he could and realized he would need to give up that activity. In order to get some exercise, he attempted to ride his personal bicycle but found he could not keep his balance and it presented a safety risk. Not being able to exercise, his reduced mobility affected his dailiness of life. Receiving his own TP-3000, Ruben now has a tryke that is stable, safe and allows him to maintain his balance to increase his ability to exercise, improve his mobility and improve his quality of life.

This AMTRYKE was given to Ruben at no cost because of our sponsors, members, donations and our SummerFest fundraiser event. As you can see, it takes many people for an AMTRYKE recipient to receive their much-needed therapeutic tryke.
