AmTryke Recipient: Azalea Garza

amtryke recipients people weve helped

Earlier this Fall, Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS presented an AmTryke to 5-year old Azalea Garza, who had been undergoing therapy for an AVM Rupture (a rare rupture of brain blood vessels), first at Trust Point Hospital and most recently at South Plains Rehab.

Azalea, and her family and therapist, joined our club for our regular Monday lunch at McKenzie/Merkett Alumni Center to receive her new AmTryke. Her father and mother, Domingo and Rebecca, are excited for Azalea’s being able to continue her therapy at home, by being able to ride with her siblings, Alexandra, Domingo IV, and Heaven.

Azalea’s therapist, Natalye Thomas, says that Azalea’s AVM Rupture led to limited use of her left arm and leg, and that the AmTryke should help her, not only with trunk strength, but with all areas Natalye is trying to work with – “providing a fun way to use both arms and legs while doing therapy.”

If you’d like to experience the joy that comes from seeing someone like Azalea be able to play with her siblings and improve her lifestyle in the process, then Join Us most Mondays for lunch and find out more about how you can be a part of our mission.
