Meet our Members: Melodie Donathan

meet our members news

Melodie became a member of Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS for the second time in July of 2024. I had previously been a member around 2004, sponsored by my husband, Lyle Donathan, a past president.

Melodie chose to join Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS again to be a part of an organization that does so much for those who need assistance in mobility. She was always impacted by the cause of AMBUCS in providing scholarships for physical therapists when she was a child. The availability of Amtrykes has completely changed mobility for those who need what Amtrykes can offer. I feel that Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS is a legacy from my dad and his desire to always help those in need with “shoulders together”.

Melodie currently works for the Brownfield ISD and will begin her 23rd year at Brownfield Middle School teaching reading/language arts. In August she will begin her 35th year of teaching!

Life has significantly changed over the past 9 months with the passing of her husband of 43 years, Lyle. She continues to faithfully follow God's plan, including looking for a position outside of the classroom.

We are so grateful to have Melodie rejoin us! Whether you're a long-time Lubbock resident OR a newcomer, if you, too, would like to learn more about our mission and see about joining our Team, just JOIN US at one of our regular Monday Luncheons at the McKenzie/Merket Alumni Center on the Tech Campus. You'll be glad you did!! You can also visit our website: montereyambucs.org for additional information.
