meet our members

Jim Anderson joined our Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS club in 2019 at the invitation of Richard Hamilton. I have been a member for about two years. Jim says he was retired and was looking for new opportunities..

Jim worked for Oxy Permian LTD for 43 years. He retired in November, 2019. While at Oxy Permian LTD he was in Maintenance Management and Plant Expansion Construction, until he started a predictive maintenance program in 1995 and developed it across the company over the next 25 years. When asked for an interesting fact about himself, Jim said, “I’m a ‘Jack of all trades; Master of none’. (Well, maybe a couple).” His favorite pastime is staying busy – mostly woodworking, home upkeep, traveling, and visiting with family and friends (“When Covid is not in the way”). He is married to his “best friend and Covid Companion” Christi Diane. They adopted 2 infant children in the late 70s. (Landon Chad who is now age 44 and Laci Kay who is now age 42) Chad has 1 child (Coleton age 17). Chad served 21 years in the Air Force and retired to do the same job working as a Government employee. Laci has 1 child (Sophia age 11). She works at Texas Tech as an Academic Advisor. Christi (my wife) is retired from South Plains College where she was the director of Guidance and Counseling at the main campus, Reese, and Plainview. When asked about his future goals, Jim says, "At this time it's getting past the new Covid 19 resurge and establishing the another "New Normal". We have purchased an RV and are sporting around between Colorado and Florida (especially Texas), and we'll probably travel internationally again when possible.

Like Jim, if you are looking for a way to be involved in a very special community activity, JOIN US any Monday at one of our regular luncheons at the Merket Alumni Center on the Tech Campus and find out more about the AMBUCS Mission.
