Meet Our Members: Donna Rose Shattuck

meet our membersDonna Rose Shattuck was not a stranger to the Lubbock Monterey Ambucs. For the last 30 years, she watched her husband's commitment to the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS and her plan was once she retired, she was going to join him as a member to Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS. After life threw them a curve ball, Donna was more determined to carry on with her husband Bob's work and dedication to this AMBUCS chapter. Donna was sponsored by Subodh Patel and joined October, 2020. Donna is our current Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS Secretary for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
Donna reported she happily retired from a great place to work, N-Com, Inc. on November 9, 2019. N-Com is a consulting engineering company providing assistance to many broadband providers across the United States, including rural telephone cooperatives, wireless and electric utility providers, cable TV operators, oilfield and industrial private fiber networks, schools, universities and governmental agencies. Donna worked as their Contract Administrator preparing and administering the contracts between the government and client/client and contractor and client and N-Com.
Since Donna retired, her world has been opened up, doing whatever she wants to do. "I love it!!" She enjoys working in her yard, cooking and baking, organizing her belonging to "try" to downsize, and travel. An interesting fact about Donna is, last July (2020), she purchased a little 21-foot travel trailer and once Covid-19 has settled down, she plans on traveling around the U.S. Currently, she is starting to travel around Texas. As she reports, "The adventure has only just begun".
Donna's favorite pastime is working in the garden, growing flowers and vegetables. She loves to cook. Donna also has a newly found love for golfing and you can find her out on the golf course every Tuesday afternoon, as long as the wind is under 15 mph.
Donna reports she married a really wonderful guy back in 1989 and Bob treated her like a queen. Bob Shattuck really added lots of love and fun to her life. Their kids are the furry type!! Bella Rose is the spoiled rotten Boston Terrier. She is now 11 years old, but she is still very spunky. Bella Rose and Donna travel around together here in town and on road trips.
When asked about her goals, Donna reports to help others when she can. She wants to live life knowing life is not easy, life is not perfect, but life is good.
