Meet our Members: Amy King

meet our members

On March 1, 2023, Amy King became a new member of the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS. While she is new, AMBUCS is not new to her. You see, her father Dave King, was a long-standing member of this chapter of AMBUCS. Her mother, who is also her sponsor, Gail King, is a member of this chapter of AMBUCS. This chapter of AMBUCS has a legacy of having family members becoming members of AMBUCS.

When asked why Amy wanted to become a member of the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS, she stated she enjoys and wants to get involved with this organization as it performs great works for the Lubbock and surrounding communities. She followed up with saying she is “carrying on a family tradition and is proud to be a member of Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS.”

Amy wore many hats while she was in the Army. She was a cook, worked in the Army Human Resources, was a DOD, and Army Contractor. She states she is happily retired!!

As an interesting fact, Amy is an ancient history buff!! Her favorite pastimes involve reading, research, genealogy, going to the beach, cooking, exercising, shopping, traveling, being with her family, and volunteering. She was married and has two grown daughters. She is very happily single and travels the world, checking off places and other items off her bucket list. And she really enjoys hanging out with her Parents…LOL. When asked what her goals are, she stated “World peace and personal enlightenment.”

We are so happy to have Amy King as a member of our Monterey AMBUCS Team, and whether you’re a long-time Lubbock resident or a newcomer, if you too, would like to learn more about our mission and see about joining our Team, just JOIN US at one of our regular Monday lunches at the McKenzie/Merket Alumni Center on the Tech Campus. You’ll be glad you did!!
