On February 20, 2023, it was a special day for Luke Liang. At the beginning of the Covid epidemic, Luke was originally referred to the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS Ambility Committee for a therapeutic AMTRYKE. Unfortunately, the manufacturer making the AMTRYKES shut down. At first, we were informed it would be towards the end of 2021, before we could get the particular AMTRYKE model for Luke's needs.

The long wait became longer and turned into the first part of 2023. After such a long wait, Luke's dream of having his new AMTRYKE came true!! On February 20, 2023, Luke, his family, therapist and sponsors (Don and Sue Lynn) were present at the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS luncheon meeting for the presentation of Luke's AMTRYKE. Luke's AMTRYKE was given at no charge to the Liang family by the generosity of the sponsors purchasing the tryke.

Luke is a bright 5-year-old kindergartener who is very energetic and talkative. He enjoys playing Minecraft and reading books. Luke also enjoys being outside and currently uses his power wheelchair. By having an AMTRYKE, Luke is now able to enjoy the freedom of riding his tryke outdoors, having fun and strengthening his muscles. This is what Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS in all about; helping Luke to become more independent.

As you can see, it takes many people for an AMTRYKE recipient to receive their much-needed therapeutic tryke. To become involved in the Lubbock Monterey Chapter of AMBUCS, you can DONATE NOW or become a SPONSOR. Come on out and JOIN US at our luncheon meetings and see what we are all about. We are the Lubbock Monterey Chapter of AMUBCS: Proud of our past…Engaged in our present…and excited about our future. As it was in 1960…and as it still is today…We stand Shoulders Together!!!
