Our Second Annual Wine Walk Already Exceeds Expectations

• April 14, 2017

updates general news

We’re just a week away from the 2nd Annual West Texas Wine Walk and we’ve already more than doubled last year’s income – exceeding our initial goal for this year. Last year, we set an initial goal of $2000, not knowing what kind of response we would get from the Lubbock community our first year out; and we hit a final amount of $12,000!

This year we doubled that number, with an initial goal of raising $24,000, and with just one week to go, we have already exceeded our second year goal by over $3000 – and that doesn’t include on-site registrations, Bake Sale proceeds, and donations the day of the Walk!

Thanks to all of you Members who have helped to make the Wine Walk happen next Saturday, April 22 – by enlisting Walkers, signing up Sponsors, registering to Walk yourself, or volunteering for one of the tasks needed on site that day.

Dave Tuohy is in charge of Day-of Assignments, and if you haven’t gotten an assignment yet, then check with Dave (806-787-2754) to see how you can help OR just plan to show up at the Llano Estacado Winery next Saturday at 8:30am to help set up and fill in where needed.  We’ll be wrapping up by 1pm, so that’s just ONE 4 1/2 hour shift per Member versus THREE 7 hour shifts at the Fair!

One area where we can all still help raise more money is with the Wine Walk Bake Sale by providing a cake, cookies, muffins, brownies, or other baked goods for the sale that is being coordinated by Mike and Tammy Bean.  If possible, On Friday, April 21, bring your Bake Sale contributions to the Bean’s house at 4207 97th Place. If you would like to bring your items earlier, call Mike (972-972-0495) or Tammy (214-384-9190) and make arrangements; and if you can’t make it by Friday, just bring your items to the Wine Walk on Saturday wrapped in clear plastic, so buyers can see the goodies.

We want to extend a great big THANKS to Patty Vannoy (Wine Walk Chair for 2017), and to all the folks who have served with her on that Committee, for helping to make this year’s event such a tremendous second year already, and we look forward to good weather and lots of fun with the give-away of several AmTrykes, the entertainment of the local Spur 327 band, and lots of good food and fellowship. See you next Saturday!
