Patti Kissko joined our Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS club during the recent Branding Time Membership Drive. Patti was previously a member of Caprock AMBUCS (2009-2013), saying, “I loved being part of this group, but was not able to participate in the Basketball Tournament fundraiser due to the timing of the tournament during the Holiday Season.”
Caprock’s loss is definitely Monterey AMBUCS’ gain. Patti has been a Physical Therapist since 1989, and is a TTUHSC graduate. She has worked mostly in Orthopedic outpatient settings – her first job being at St. Anthony’s in Amarillo, Texas. She also worked at St. Mary’s and the Lubbock State School, and says she is proud to have worked for the Lubbock Veteran’s Administration Outpatient Clinic for 8 years. Patti is currently working for University Medical Center at Team Rehab located at Zach’s Club on 78th Street and Quaker.
Patti was born, and lived her first 10 years, in PIttsburgh, Pennsylvania, and lists her favorite pastimes as Disc Golf, hiking, concerts, and listening to all kinds of music with her husband, especially Beatles, Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan.
Speaking of Patti’s husband, Rich, they have been married for 26 years, and have two daughters Wendy and Marcie who are in college. Wendy will complete her Masters in Speech Pathology at TTUHSC in May 2016. Marcie attends the University of Texas in Austin, and is working towards becoming a dietician. Rich is a Behavior Specialist for Lubbock Independent School District.
When asked about her goals, Patti says, ”I would like to have a 50 year career. I started my work as a physical therapist when I was 21 and am now at the 27-year mark. It is a very rewarding profession.” She adds that she wants to continue to advocate at the state and federal level to allow better access to physical therapy. She’s also interested and excited about promoting healthy aging for Senior Citizens and expanding her public speaking about this topic.
What we as a club like best is that Patti says, “I am excited about further promoting, mobility, health and wellness for people(including America’s veterans!) by being involved with Monterey AMBUCS!!!” If you’d like to join Patti and others in this effort, think about Joining Us most Mondays at one of our regular noontime lunches.
