Pat Ables is the newest member of Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS, joining during our recent Fall Membership Drive, but is really a retread – having been a member previously from 2002-2004.
Pat says “I knew a lot of the members from my previous membership and they are very easy to get along with.” He also says that he knows that Monterey AMBUCS is a relaxed club while driving a social and civic balance.
He works at SimplexGrinnell as a manager, and also has a small herd of cattle. “I have 10 now – waiting on a new crop of calves.”
Pat has been married to his wife Donna for 35 years. They have 2 sons. Sean is 32 and his wife’s name is Ashley. Sean is an organic farmer and lives in Idalou Tx, and he and Ashley have a daughter named Payton who is 6 years old, and a son Cooper who is 1 year old. Their second son, Paul, is 29 years old “and still looking.” He lives in Lubbock for now and works at City Bank.
When asked what’s his favorite past time, he says that Donna accuses him of having too many favorite past times, so here is a list of what he splits his spare time between – Golf, hunting, fishing, softball, racquetball, and raising cattle. “Of course my favorite past time is being with my family.”
And when asked about his long-term goals, Pat says it’s to “Retire and raise cattle.”
We welcome Pat to our club, and we hope that others will follow his lead and either join or maybe rejoin. If you’d like to check us out, plan to JOIN US some Monday for our regular weekly luncheon at the McKenzie-Merkett Alumni Center on the Tech Campus.
