Deborah Scott-Riggs joined our club in September 2015 – “just in time for Fair Duty!” she reminded me. She works as a Texas REALTOR, “helping families make the buying and selling of a home a satisfying, pleasant and rewarding experience.”
Deborah says she joined Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS because “my dear friend, Kadee Harcrow, asked me. Her face and heart light up every time she speaks of this club and its purpose, not to mention the laughter she shares when telling stories of some of the other members.”
Deborah has a sister that she shares a birthday with – except they are exactly 1 year apart – her sister being the older! “She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and I have brown hair and brown eyes – hummmmmmm.”
She says, “I finally found my soulmate 6 years ago and married him on 12-13-14!!” Deborah has 1 daughter who is married and teaches 2nd grade at Midland ISD. Her husband, Tom, has 1 son who works with a remodeling company here in Lubbock.
Her favorite pastime is to go camping in their RV, and while camping to go boating and fishing. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and she and her mom both enjoy hosting parties.
One of her big goals is to “buy a house that Tom and I can call our own and help my sister get back on her feet after a personal setback. And of course, enjoy World Peace!! LOL”
Deborah says she has reached a point in her life“where giving back is important to me and I get to personally see the ‘giving back’ when we present AmTrykes and scholarships to their recipients.” She tells us that she has truly enjoyed getting to know the members, “a few at a time”, and has found “this group to be genuine and passionate about the organization’s mission, not stuffy socialites! Plus, they like to have a good time!”
And if you’d like to Join Us in having a good time, while “giving back”, just come to lunch any Monday at noon at the McKenzie/Merket Alumni Center on the Tech campus.
